The Forgiveness Factor

Living in what I call a "fight or flight" world, we sometimes must deal with an overstressed and less than peaceful person (or 2) throughout our day.  It may be difficult to stay grounded when in the presence of another, especially if they are trying to unload their "stuff" (or the blame for their stuff) on us.  Combine that with being indoors where there are many times so few electrons makes it even more difficult to stay grounded.  We may even take on their emotions or our own negative emotions in a defensive reaction.

This is a big deal because I have learned through the many Touch for Health-related classes I have taken that our emotions affect our well-being and health in a much grander way than I ever imaged.  Did you know that specific emotions make a kind of "imprint" on certain organs?  I know through doing balances for others that specific emotions definitely can create an imbalance in acupuncture meridian flow and each meridian is associated with an organ.

I have tried changing my thought pattern from "stating it like it is" to "stating it like I would like it to be" through creating my own story in my head in order to stay grounded.  Not a bad idea since our body does tend to believe what it hears from our thoughts in our brain (within reason).  However, I have since realized that is it really much more simple than that.

The Forgiveness Factor:

We are meant to love.  Let's just say that love is at the beginning (of life and joy) and anything moving away from that is emotionally detrimental and thus not conducive to health and well-being nor staying grounded.

The greatest tool I have learned to help me in my endeavor to love is to automatically go into "forgiveness mode" in my thoughts.  It does not have to be complicated with a lot of words; the important thing is that it becomes automatic.  This does take some practice and you may need to create a physical reminder or note to prompt your mind.  Believe me, when you encounter a being who drains you and even puts you into defensive mode, it will be difficult for your mind to remember what to do.

Here is what I do:
  1. I simply repeat in my mind several times, "I forgive you".
  2. Then I move on to repeat in my mind, "I forgive me"
    • I know that many times my trouble is from not forgiving myself and having someone who wants to blame me will add to this problem so this is very helpful.
  3. Finally, I repeat in my mind several times, "I love you" and I might add, "I love, I love, I love".
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 as much as needed and as often as possible.
Fill your mind with these thoughts as often as possible.  Most faiths teach forgiveness and love but I think we highly underestimate the power of feeling forgiveness and love.

If you are not grounded, it will help to do the following while filling your thoughts with the above statements:
  • Hold the "Emotional Stress Release" (ESR) points found on your forehead with one hand and the base of the back of your skull with your other hand.

Many times I have held my ESR points in public without anyone knowing what I was doing.  When sitting in a meeting, it is very easy to lean on the arm of a chair with one hand on your forehead without much notice from others.  Our hand will tend to automatically want to hold our ESR points when we are extremely stressed.

Going into "forgiveness mode" has been a huge factor in reducing my stress level.  It is not so much what others do but how I internalize what they do that determines my stress level.

A quick and very effective way to relieve stress, find hope and forgiveness is by taking the NES Health Infoceutical called ESR (Emotional Stress Release).  It can bring relief within 30 minutes and calm stress.

Forgiveness Mode = Less  Stress

Grounded and Centered

Grounding every dayhelps my mind stay centeredon what I know is best for me.

Stress is distracting for my mind because of the hormonal effects on my body.  The calm effects of grounding prevent that stressful reaction and thus have
helped my mind to focus.

Since increasing the time I ground myself each day, I have noticed numerous benefits. It is very helpful in reducing cortisol levels so it is a great way to calm the stress that can sometimes be felt daily.

Emerging Evidence

Emerging evidence shows that contact with the Earth—whether being outside barefoot or indoors connected to grounded conductive systems—may be a simple, natural, and yet profoundly effective environmental strategy against chronic stress, ANS dysfunction, inflammation, pain, poor sleep, disturbed HRV, hypercoagulable blood, and many common health disorders, including cardiovascular disease. The research done to date supports the concept that grounding or earthing the human body may be an essential element in the health equation along with sunshine, clean air and water, nutritious food, and physical activity.*

You can read more about the benefits here.

In my next post, I will write about what I call "The Forgiveness Factor".
Have a Balanced Hands-On Healthy Day,

Earthing: Health Implications of Reconnecting the Human Body to the Earth's Surface Electrons

Abstract

Environmental medicine generally addresses environmental factors with a negative impact on human health. However, emerging scientific research has revealed a surprisingly positive and overlooked environmental factor on health: direct physical contact with the vast supply of electrons on the surface of the Earth. Modern lifestyle separates humans from such contact. The research suggests that this disconnect may be a major contributor to physiological dysfunction and unwellness. Reconnection with the Earth's electrons has been found to promote intriguing physiological changes and subjective reports of well-being. Earthing (or grounding) refers to the discovery of benefits—including better sleep and reduced pain—from walking barefoot outside or sitting, working, or sleeping indoors connected to conductive systems that transfer the Earth's electrons from the ground into the body. This paper reviews the earthing research and the potential of earthing as a simple and easily accessed global modality of significant clinical importance.

Feeling calm, cool and collected
no matter what comes my way is kind of like living on my own little island.
Peaceful, serene and very lovely!
This is absolutely my favorite benefit from grounding!!
On Mother's Day, my daughters asked me what I wanted them to make for me and I told them.  The next thing I know, they had decided to make something else.  Now maybe that should not have upset me, but it did.  At the time, it bothered me that they would ask and then not listen.  Anyway, I was doing the old groaning under my breath and verbally to my husband, "Why do they do that!" blah, blah, blah.  Of course, my husband had no idea what I was talking about.

Here is where it gets interesting:

At some moment I realized that I wasn't grounded so I walked straight out my door to my back room, sat down in a chair so my feet would be on the concrete floor, and I "chilled".  About 15 minutes later my husband came into the back room and asked me, "So what is up?  What did the girls do that upset you?"  My response was, "Nothing, it doesn't matter", and I really meant it!  To tell you the truth, my answer even surprised me.

I am discovering that grounding prevents my stressful reactions to situations that used to bother me.
I certainly am enjoying it!
Have a happy Hands On Healthy week,
Joy

The Easiest Way to Ground Yourself

If it is too hot, too cold, too wet, too inconvenient or you are just too busy to take the time to ground yourself outside, there is another way!  A very convenient and simple way that I look forward to every night.  I am determined to get my hormones in balance and feel calm no matter what comes my way.
I am so determined that I have set a goal to get grounded for at least 7 hours a day.  With that in mind, I bit the bullet and purchased a grounding product that plugs into the grounded circular hole of an electrical outlet.  Am I ever glad that I did!!  I honestly look forward to "hooking myself up" every night.  It is very relaxing and my sleep is so much deeper.
I have also been using it for localized pain or problems.  Last night my wrist was hurting so I used it to relieve that pain in about 15 minutes.  I have also put it on my forehead to see if it will quicken up the pace of ridding my body of sinus polyps.  I have definitely noticed a difference with my sinuses.  My allergies have been so much better and I can actually smell.
I have figured out that it is best not to use the grounding straps on the soles of my feet before I am going to sleep because it is too stimulating and tends to keep me awake.  I love putting them on my belly.  I am sure it is soothing for my digestion and is great for sleeping.  Who knows, maybe I like it so much because it is tapping into and affecting the hormonal balance interaction that occurs in the belly.  They say the belly has it's own "brain" and plays a large role in a high percentage of the amount of serotonin that the body produces.
I am very happy!!  Well, except for that unpleasant side effect of smelling so much better when I was in the dentist's office yesterday with my daughter.  I forgot how that smelled since I have had sinus blockage for so long.
In my next post, I will share my favorite benefit from grounding.
Have a Hands On Healthy very grounded day,
Joy
